A Little About Me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. My educational experience includes a Bachelor of Art degree in Psychology from University of Portland (1997), and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University (2002). I have been working as a therapist for over 16 years, and believe that my joy for helping others, my education and my own growth will never come to an end.
During, and following, my graduate school program I began working in community mental health providing therapy to young children, adolescents and families, as well as working with incarcerated and probation youth. Working with these populations began a career passion, and my niche working with children and adolescents in my private practice. In addition, I have specialized training for working with adults and couples.
My experiences, both personally and professionally, have provided exposure to the struggles many of us encounter during our life's journey, and the resulting challenges we face in coping. Throughout my career I have had a passion for helping my clients process and heal trauma (aka, any experience that overrides you ability to make sense of and cope), learn strategies for managing stressors, improve communication and relationships, and ultimately living a life abundant with joy, hope and fulfillment.
I am committed to continuing my professional growth and learning as a therapist. In 2013 I obtained additional specialized training and certification as a Certified Expert Trauma Professional, and in 2016 became a Grief Specialist.
When I am not in the office I am devoted to being present, attuned and engaged with my husband, two children, and our spoiled dog.
