I'm honored to
help you get to know me.
I personally believe that it takes a great deal of strength and courage to reach out and ask for support and guidance. With this is mind, I hope my sharing a little about me will be the start of you and I getting to know each other, beginning to work on your desired goals and restoring your hope.
A Little About Me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. My educational experience includes a Bachelor of Art degree in Psychology from University of Portland, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University. I have been working as a therapist for over 14 years, and believe that my personal and professional journey of learning and education will never come to an end.
Out of graduate school I began working with young children, adolescents and families, and found my passion for helping families. This continues to be my specialty and my passion, and is a large portion of my current practice. In addition, it was through my therapeutic work with parents that an interest, and subsequent additional training, in working with adults and couples emerged. This is added to the therapeutic work that I love.
My professional experiences have provided me exposure to the struggles many of us encounter during our life's journey, and the resulting challenges of coping. Through my professional career a passion for trauma (aka, any experience that overrides an individual's ability to make sense of and cope) has ignited, and I have developed a specialty in working with trauma - both small and large type. In the recent year (2013) I obtained specialized training and certification as a Certified Expert Trauma Professional.
As Your Therapist
I take a collaborative position with you, and will tailor our time together to best suit your needs. I will emphasize and build upon your strengths and competencies as the foundation for your desired change and growth.
